In the Exploring DeRisi_i popup window, select the button "Find Genes Matching Criteria..."

Fill out the criteria as shown in the screen shot below, which checks for the desired characteristics in the expression profile:

This search finds 8 genes meeting the desired criterion. Plot these genes as a group. In the plot window, select all 8 profiles by holding down shift and clicking on the data points. Pull down the Gene Info window as shown below, and compare the genes to those listed in Fig. 5B. Discrepencies are discussed below.

Genes FBP1, IDP2, ACS1, MLS1 and ICL1 are in both graphs above. YAT2, SFC1 and PCK1are in the MAGIC Tool plot, but not in Fig. 5B. ACR1 and PPC1 are in Fig. 5B, but not in the MAGIC Tool plot. However, some yeast ORFs have multiple gene aliases associated with them, and the standard alias may have changed over time. To see if this is the case, go to http://www.yeastgenome.org and enter PCK1 (the alias for YKR097W in MAGIC Tool) in the "Quick Search" box. The results show that another alias for this ORF is PPC1, which is the alias used in Fig. 5B. Repeating these steps for SFC1 and YAT2 shows that the only gene that is not in both plots is YAT2 (YER024W).
