As Professor and Chair of Biology at Missouri Western State University in Saint Joseph, Missouri, I have many opportunities to work with undergraduate students. MWSU is a regional state liberal arts university with about 5000 students in attendance. Students in the Department engage in a variety of independent research activities, including Synthetic Biology in 2006 and 2007.

The Missouri Western iGEM team collaborated in 2006 with the team from Davidson College and we have joined them again in 2007. Our 2006 iGEM experience captivated the attention of our University and our community. In 2007 and beyond, we hope to build upon that excitement.
