This page was established by and for parents who teach at the college level. We decided to work collectively to generate a living list of colleges that offer merit aid. To contribute a new school, put the college name and create a link to the web page that shows they offer merit aid. This way, if they change their policy, we will have a link to the page and we can modify our list accordingly.

Dennison University Merit Scholarships
Denison annually offers more than 1000 academic scholarships for first year students. If you wish to be considered for one of these, be sure to submit a completed admissions application by January 15, unless otherwise noted. All of Denison's academic scholarships and awards are given for four years by maintaining the award's stipulated grade point average.

Dickinson College Merit Scholarships
We are committed to recognizing superior talent and service, regardless of financial need, as we seek to assemble a student body that will benefit from and contribute to Dickinson’s distinctive characteristics—global engagement, hands-on learning, exploration of environmental sustainability and an outstanding network of accomplished alumni. All applicants, based upon credentials, are considered for Dickinson’s merit-based scholarships, which recognize top students in the incoming first-year class and are maintained for four years by full-time enrollment and a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Grinnell College Trustee Honor Scholarship
Awarded for outstanding academic achievements, the Trustee Honor Scholarship is merit assistance and does not have to be repaid. If you are receiving grant, loan, or employment assistance in addition to the Trustee Honor Scholarship indicated on your award notification, you must complete Grinnell's regular application process by our published deadline each year. Once you have paid your deposit, a special certificate for the Trustee Honor Scholarship will be sent to your high school principal for presentation at graduation or honor ceremonies.

Goucher College Merit Scholarships
Designed to reward and encourage our brightest and most talented applicants--and make Goucher a very realistic choice for your education--these awards are based on academic achievements and leadership in high school. They do not take into account financial need. These scholarships range up to $36,011 (full tuition in 2011-12) annually. All admitted first-year and transfer students are considered for academic merit scholarships, and all admitted first-year students who submit separate Scholarship in the Arts applications are considered for the Scholarships in the Arts.

Hendrix College Merit Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded for academic achievement, leadership and service experience, and performance in the fine arts. Scores from the ACT and SAT writing testsare not considered when evaluating scholarship candidates.

Kalamazoo College Merit Scholarships
The College offers several scholarships based on merit criteria: Lux Esto, Trustee, Presidential, Founders, and Passages. These merit scholarships are awarded by the Office of Admission. These scholarships range from $5000 to $21,500 per year (renewable for up to four years). These awards are given to students who combine strong academic achievement with significant engagement in cocurricular, work, and voluntary activities. First-year students and transfer students admitted to the college will be considered for these merit scholarships. No additional application is required.

Oberlin College Merit Scholarships
Merit aid at Oberlin College is awarded by the admissions offices for the College of Arts and Sciences and the Conservatory of Music. The Office of Financial Aid is not involved in the decision process for merit-based scholarships. All questions should be directed to either the Arts and Sciences or Conservatory admissions.
