[==Wiki Topic==] My project will focus on the characterization and utilization of stochasticity in gene expression. Stochasticity in gene expression influences the construction of parts, to devices, to systems in synthetic biology. While it stands as a goal, for synthetic biologists, to create libraries of standarized parts and devices, inherent stochasticity will always be a factor that needs to be accounted for. Unlike electrical circuits, building synthetic constructs means struggling to characterize and utilize the stochastic nature of the genome, transcriptome and proteome.
