We have recorded two transcription phenomenon in E.Coli.

Backwards Promotion
We have recorded instances in which the promoter region of the Lac operon transcribes DNA upstream of RNA polymerase binding, -10 and -35 consensus sequences, CAP binding ect. We have demonstrated a degree of control over the phenomenon by manipulating antibiotic resistance genes (kanamycin and chloramphenicol resistance) to translate and transcribe for their respective enzymes (kanamycin nucleotidyltransferase and chloramphenicol acetyltransferase) when the gene was place upstream of the promoter region and oriented backwards.
