Mutated Enzymes Causing Auxotroph's for Amino Acids: [[Media:AminoAcidAuxotrophs.pptx]] <br>

Revision as of 12:55, 10 June 2011

Idea:

We were thinking that if we could get one strain of E.coli that is auxotrophic to all 20 amino acids we could split the amino acids and then follow our designed protocol and solve a 20 HPP at one time.

However, we could not find any strains of E. coli that are auxotrophic for all 20 amino acids. We were able to find 3 strains auxotrophic for at least two amino acids. So, we thought that we could mate the E. coli cells and get a strain of E. coli auxotrophic for 8 amino acids.

As a result, we need to find and obtain:

What We Need Status
Y10 E. coli Strain Found at Yale University, but have not requested a copy Picture of Yale University E.coli database results: Media:Yale.png
58-161 E.coli Strain Found at Yale University, but have not requested a copy
WWU E. coli Strain Found the person (R. C. Bockrath) who designed it, but he deceased, so am sending an email to the chair of the depart he worked for at Indiana University to see if there are copies available
