Haloarcula sp 33799

Haloarcula sp 33799, sometimes known as Haloarcula californiae, has 180 contigs in its partially sequenced genome. The species was discovered in salt brines in Baja California and Mexico. The genome at this point for this species is 4,420 kb long [1]. Currently no studies have focused on this species. One property of H. californiae is mentioned in a study about susceptibility of halophiles to heavy metals. This species is susceptible to heavy metals. Growth is inhibited by the lowest levels of heavy metals tested in this study.
